I think that I first became aware of the Telecaster in the early 60s when Bruce Welch used one when playing rhythm guitar with The Shadows.

I only recently discovered that the 'caster was the first ever solid-bodied electric guitar, and when you consider that it's still being produced and bought in very large numbers, you have to concede that the original design has lasted very well. The lack of "sculpting" and shaping to fit the instrument to the human body does give a clue to it's early origins, but it does have an appeal which is hard to explain.

As to the sound from that bridge pick-up  -  well...
